Golden Rule #11!! So many times I fill out forms online or enroll in a program or do a "free" online quiz and come across BAD defaults! If one is not careful, you can definitely get suckered into subscribing for magazines or getting "special offers" of absolutely no interest. I highly respect forms that have the check boxes empty and allow the user to check as needed.
This list from SAP is pretty cool! It is really funny to read and sometimes I really wonder if such a list is necesarry. I just can't believe how products can be created with some of these flaws. Seems like common sense...you know?
My favorite is Golden Rule #9: Keep away from end users! It's a scary thought that designer or developer building a product wouldn't consult with the end users beforehand and during the process. Just because someone is a good designer or developer doesn't make them an expert on the users' needs - Just one of the reasons why bad products exist.
